CYCLING TO THE FARMERS MARKET AT MANLY

I'd heard about the Farmers Markets at Manly and decided to hop on my trusted Scotty and check it out for myself.

I'd been to the Powerhouse Market at Newfarm and been impressed but there was something about this market that was decidedly different. Was it the vibe, location, mix of people, atmosphere or what? Read on and make your own decision to see for yourself. With the next market being on Saturday 15 December, you don't even have to wait that long.

With the bay as a backdrop to the markets you can be usually assured of a nice sea breeze coming in, keeping the market itself , fresh and light.

If you live in the burbs and are in need of a change, why not make a day of it. Bring the kids, dog, skates, picnic basket and of course your bicycles. That's all you need to make a very pleasant family day out by the water. Everything you need for a picnic can be found at either the market or the shopping centre nearby. There is a beach, cycle/walking paths which stretch forever, an aquatic pool for the kids and the dog (on a leash) is welcome at the market. If a lazy fish lunch is in order, there are ample restaurants in the near vicinity only too happy to serve you.

Everything you could possibly need in the order of fresh produce can be procured at these markets. They cater for fresh vegetables, fruit, bread, cakes, biscuits, olives, pickles  wine, coffee, drinks, ice cream and a whole lot more.

On this particular day we contacted friends and had the most beautiful picnic imaginable. We certainly do it tough!!

Cheers and safe riding,
